Hey guys! For those of you following my blog, you'll know I recently purchased the Rimmel Quad in Smokey Brun. And for those of you that remember, I really did like it!
So today, I'm sharing two everyday looks using the same palette. I didn't use any other eye products except for some Maybelline liquid liner in the second one.
To see how I did these looks, keep on reading!
For the first look, I started with the bronze color as my base. No muss, no fuss. I just used my fingers to get that color all over my lids.
Then I lined my eyes with the dark brown. You can use any eyeliner brush or in my case, a stiff eyebrow brush. I find they actually work the same when it comes to lining with powder eyeshadow. In fact a stiff eyebrow brush can even work better, because it really packs the powder onto your lid. I lined top and lower, using a bit more than I normally would below my eye to amp up the drama.
Then using the white shadow, I placed the color in my inner tear duct blending only slightly to the bronze color. I also used it to highlight my brow bone.
Some volumizing mascara (I used Covergirl LashBlast) and done! Now for the second look. :)
This time I started out with the taupe-beige as a subtle base. I used the bronze color again, but only in the outer third. This time I put the white color in the inner third for a little shimmer. Again, I applied it onto my brow bone. To finish the eyeshadow I patted some more taupe onto the center of my lid to make it more noticeable.
I decided to add some liquid eyeliner to add some nice definition and elongate my eyes. As you can see, I drew a fairly thin line. Apply mascara and there you go!
Now you have two simple but gorgeous eye looks with the Rimmel quad in Smokey Brun!
Note: Some tips if you have hooded or monolid eyes like me.
Yes, sadly eye makeup is trickier. I still enviously watch double lidders put eyeshadow all over their eyelid without getting a panda effect similar to the one above.
However its not impossible. For beginners a good way to make sure you don't let the eyeshadow go too far up is to start staring straight ahead at the mirror. Then place your index finger where your eyeshadow can go and now you have a guideline. Place it where you would have a double lid but don't.
Also, eyeliner. Ohmigod, eyeliner! The #struggles. Notice how thin I kept my liner. That really helps it work. A thick line looks a lot worse because the thing about eyeliner if you have hooded or monolids is that the line most people have above their eye isn't there. A "sexy" cat eye can easily just look like this little stub of a triangle randomly at the edge of a person's eye.
But nevertheless I love makeup! And I'm here to tell you eye makeup can work... So just keep on practicing! :)
Anyway, hope you enjoyed these two looks and see you next time!
